Rapcast, Seinfeldcast or Wrestlecast: Which is your favorite?

First there was Wrestlecast, then Seinfeldcast and finally Rapcast – which sportscast ranks as your ultimate Adam Lefkoe moment?

In the fall of 2013 sports personality Adam Lefkoe caught the imagination of the internet with an unique twist on reporting sports for the WHAS 11 news in Louisville, KY.

The first of Adam’s hilarious sportscasts was dubbed the Wrestlecast. Here Lefkoe jams a cornucopia of wrestling references into his coverage of the Louisville and Kentucky college football teams. That night everyone from the Ultimate Warrior to the Iron Sheik and Doink the Clown clotheslined their way into the Louisville news as a result of Adam’s creativity.

WATCH WRESTLECAST!

After the success of Wrestlecast, Adam followed up with Seinfeldcast, his homage to America’s favorite sitcom. Instead of five, boring minutes of typical sports highlights, Lefkoe added spice to the broth with humorous allusions to the infamous red dot on the cashmere sweater, the J. Peterman catalog and urban sombreros!

WATCH SEINFELDCAST!

On the heels of Seinfeldcast, Adam scored his most viral video yet with Rapcast! In the course of reporting on the Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana college football teams Lefkoe drops some serious hip hop knowledge and pays homage to Ice Cube’s “Today was a good day,” Jay Z’s “99 Problems,” De La Soul’s “Me, Myself and I” and Bone Thugs-n-harmony’s “Crossroads”

Insider Louisville Profile

Today The Rivalry: Red V. Blue was profiled by Insider Louisville.

The story by Albrecht Stahmer details the filmmaking team’s diverse backgrounds and sheds more light on the origin of the original idea for the documentary. Read all about it below.

“I am more than just a serious basketball fan. I am a life-long addict. I was addicted from birth, in fact, because I was born in Kentucky,” claimed Louisville native Hunter S. Thompson.

He may have been talking about his allegiance to his beloved Kentucky Wildcats, but he no doubt came across Louisville Cardinals fans of like mind in his hometown. March Madness television ratings consistently paint Louisville as the nation’s capital of college basketball fandom.

While the Hatfields and McCoys may be relegated to the history books, the Cats and Cards rivalry continues to inflame, especially here in Louisville — ground zero of red versus blue. Louisville fans may make up the majority, but Kentucky fans are a boisterous minority.

The story has been covered extensively locally and even nationally, but it’s never been told on the big screen.

That will soon change when the documentary film “The Rivalry: Red v, Blue” premiers in December.

If you’ve spent any amount of time in Kentucky, you get it: You’re either a fan of the Cats or of the Cards, but never of both.

State motto be damned, divided we cheer.

Kentucky Pride

Last night we surged past $10,000 in kickstarter pledges thanks to Kentucky Pride and the generosity of “Red V. Blue” nation!

To say thank you, we released a new video “Kentucky Pride,” featuring one of our favorite UK fans, Doug Young.

Doug Young owns the Finishing Touch frame shop in Paintsville, KY. In this clip he explains what Kentucky basketball means to him and so many others in the state.

But Doug’s message of the importance of tradition is as applicable to Louisville fans as it is to Kentucky fans. Just as Doug is a lifelong Wildcats supporter because UK was his dad’s team, there are thousands of Louisville Cardinal fans with similar stories whose love for the Cards grew out of their love for a family member or good friend.

Red V. Blue” isn’t just a basketball documentary. It’s a movie about the rich traditions of Kentucky and their meaning to generations of Kentuckians.

Today producer Adam Lefkoe was a guest on the Leach Report with the Voice of the Wildcats, Tom Leach.

This weekend we will be featured in the Lexington Herald and the Appalachian News-Express.

Additionally, director Rory Owen Delaney was interviewed by Surreelfilm. The interview will air Sunday at 1 pm EST on Crescent Hill Radio in Louisville and will be simulcast on crescenthillradio.com!

11 o’clock WHAS 11 Nightly News Appearance

On Tuesday (July 2nd) Producer Wade Smith also made an appearance on the WHAS 11 eleven o’clock nightly news.

In this WHAS 11 segment, Wade Smith explains how The Rivalry: Red V. Blue kickstarter campaign works. Basically, unless the entire fundraising goal is met ($40,000) by the end of the 40 day crowdfunding campaign, every penny that was donated will be returned to our generous supporters.

Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing crowdfunding platform. If we do not meet or exceed our fundraising goal of $40,000 by the end of our campaign, we don’t keep a dollar. So far, we have raised $6,665, which is over 16% of our goal in  a week. That’s a great start; thank you so much for your generosity!

Now we need to maintain the momentum and power to 25% of our $40,000 kickstarter goal in order to get The Rivalry: Red V. Blue completed before Christmas. Don’t forget to share this one-of-a-kind documentary with your family and friends; and please remember to back this project!

Earlier that day, Wade made an appearance on WHAS 11’s morning show Great Day Live with the dueling barbers, promoting The Rivalry: Red V. Blue. Last week, Wade also appeared on Cn2, promoting the kickstarter campaign and the film. So far the response from the media and our supporters has been overwhelmingly positive.

Everyone is relieved that the story of college basketball’s most bitter rivalry is finally being told and thrilled that they can become a part of Kentucky film history!

Great Day Live TV Appearance

Part Basketball Movie, Part Cultural Warfare

RED V. BLUE is a one-of-a-kind basketball movie about the Louisville Cardinals—Kentucky Wildcats college hoops rivalry, one of the hottest rivalries in sports today.

RED V. BLUE producers Adam Lefkoe and Wade Smith presented the basketball movie business plan to the Louisville Venture Connectors today. For the occasion, we released “Red V. Blue: Cultural Warfare,” a new promotional teaser for the documentary, featuring Pat Forde, Mike Rutherford, Matt Jones, and more.

The new RED V. BLUE trailer was so well received, that Louisville Business First elected to interview producer Adam Lefkoe for their publication.

Among the day’s other highlights, Adam and Wade hooked up with B. Stille, an original member of the Nappy Roots and founder of Birdgang Clothing. B agreed to an interview and offered to make some music for us. Thanks, B!

Wade also showed off our exclusive line of RED V. BLUE merchandise, including t-shirts, ballcaps, fleece jackets, golf shirts, umbrellas, and more.

In other news, Forbes Magazine named the Louisville Cardinals the most valuable college basketball  team with an estimated value of 36 million dollars. Expect this number to rise after Louisville joins the ACC. Fifth on the list was the Kentucky Wildcats, valued at $24.4 million dollars. Expect this number to rise once the Wildcats finally get luxury corporate boxes in Rupp Arena.

Adam Lefkoe Added as Producer

If you hadn’t heard yet, we are making it official. WHAS sports anchor Adam Lefkoe has been brought on as a producer of “Red V Blue.” Adam is an invaluable asset to the team, particularly given his background with his popular “The Rivalry” YouTube channel, so we are excited to combine our powers 🙂

Denny Crum, Joe B. Hall + Adam Lefkoe

Last week’s Red V Blue production shoot couldn’t have been more fruitful. The week started out with an interview with Coach Denny Crum, who led the Louisville Cardinals to two national championships. The next day we sat down with Coach Joe B. Hall, who led the Kentucky Wild Cat to a national championship both as a coach and a player. Then we were off to Paintsville in eastern Kentucky where we interviewed some local diehard fans. Friday night we finished off the trip by interviewing WHAS sports anchor Adam Lefkoe in Louisville, who rocked out some great stories in between his TV spots. Stay tuned for further developments.
